Highlights from the week

Here are some highlights from our week:

On Monday Pat took the girls on a dinner date to Pizza Blitz. He really enjoys their dinner dates which is just another reason why he is such a good daddy. My mom (Mimi) usually meets them at the restaurant so it's nice they all eat together. While they went to dinner I got to take my favorite spin class which of course made me very happy. Any time I am able to take a class at the gym or get a work out eat lifts my mood and makes me a better mommy.

Tuesday evening Sophia had her first dance class. She has been wanting to take dance for months but it just didn't seem to work into our schedule. Dance is on Tuesday evenings which is great because then Pat can see her too. We all got to sit in and watch her participate in class for a while and she was just all smiles. Isabelle was mesmerized by all the girls. We are thrilled that she had a great time and wants to go back. Lately Pat and the girls have been watching the movie, Dragons 2 which has really amazing music so during the parts of the movie with songs Pat and Sophia and sometimes Isabelle dance around the house.

Wednesday I took the girls to the library. Sophia loves to play with their literacy centers and today I noticed they had a tool stand set up. Both the girls played with the tools for a bit and then I had to remove Isabelle from the tools because she kept trying to eat the tools, big surprise, right?

I checked out a few books for us and one of the books was, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. We read it once at the library but since we've been home Pat and I have read it many times. She calls it her "caterpillar book". This was one of my favorite books that I read in Kindergarten to teach the life cycle of a butterfly. I love how there are so many ways to teach her things while reading the book: life cycle of a butterfly, one-to-one correspondence, days of the week etc. She cracks me up because when I'm reading the book and gets to the part where the caterpillar eats plums she insists they are blueberries. While reading the book she's asked to eat strawberries, blueberries and oranges (because the caterpillar ate these foods). At least the food she wants are healthy.  hehe

I've also noticed the girls dynamics are changing. Isabelle is almost 10 months old. She is more active and eager to get into anything. She thinks any obstacle is something she can climb on. Just this morning I was helping Sophia get dressed and Sophia was laying on the floor and Isabelle decides it's a great idea to climb up on her sister and take away her blanket. Thankfully Sophia thought it was funny but that's certainly not the case all the time. Isabelle is just interested in whatever her big sister is doing and Sophia is not always happy to let this occur.

Stay tuned for more adventures with Sophia & Isabelle...
